This week the whole class won Star of the Week for having such a fantastic year in Year 2. I would like to thank all the children for their hard work and effort this year – I have loved teaching them all.
Our attendance this week was 98.4%.
What a fantastic week we had last week! In English we are learning about the features of instructions and in Maths we have been applying our addition and subtraction skills to problem solve!

We are looking forward to our Titanic afternoon tea on Friday 13th July.

Last week in Maths we learnt how to read and make block diagrams, tally charts and tables. In English we are reading George’s Marvellous Medicine. We have summarised the events of chapter 1. My favourite part is where George starts to make the medicine.

Last week in Maths we have been learning how to repeat patterns. In English we are reading the book George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl. George’s Grandma is really mean to him so he is trying to make a potion to turn her nice.

This week in Maths we have been working with money to add 2 amounts of money together using an empty number line. Then we had to find the change from £2.00.
This week in English we have been summarising the events of The Worst Witch with the characters Mildred, Maud and Ethel. We have drawn a story map to plan our own magical story.

Miss Cartwright & Miss Hodgkiss enjoyed themselves too
Oh my goodness I couldn’t wait any longer to post about this book! I am up to the part where he tries to cross the road at the zebra crossing, I hope he is ok! He sounds like such a lovely little hedgehog. I hope he solves his mission of working out how hedgehogs can cross the road safely.
Are you enjoying the book? What do you think might happen in the story?
Hi Year 2
I loved reading the book The Diary of a Killer Cat!! I thought it was really clever how the author had written the story from the point of view of the cat commenting on what the humans are doing – I haven’t read a book like that before! He is a cheeky little cat too!
Let me know what you think about the book…
What a fantastic term we had in Spring 1! It all started with our trip to Knowsley Safari Park to spark our interest in Amazing Africa. We have explored the human and physical features of Botswana and Standish and produced art work in the style of Henri Rousseau. We became journalists when we worked in groups to present an enticing description of Botswana to persuade people to visit. The children wrote some fantastic descriptions of Gerald the giraffe and even learned how to use a thesaurus to expand our vocabulary knowledge.
Well done Year 2!
